Injured Farrier's Fund

The SCFA continues to work out details to get the Injured Farrier’s Fund off the ground. Successful fundraisers were held at both the 2007 and 2008 Monetta Farrier Specialties Spring Flings.

Money from this fund will be available to subscribing farriers for $25 annual dues in addition to SCFA’s $30 annual dues. To receive funds, farriers must apply. The application process involves a 30-day wait period (similar to the application process for disability insurance). To qualify, the applicant must be unable to work for at least 30 days due to injury, and the applicant must be a member of the Injured Farrier’s Fund prior to the accident. The SCFA Board of directors will have 30 days to vote on the application.

Funds distributed to injured farriers will be capped at 30 percent of the total fund balance in order to sustain the effort. SCFA will continue to coordinate fund raising events to finance it.
